QR asset tag maker

Print a numbered series of QR code labels for equipment, furniture and stock. Pick a prefix and a range, add your name and print on sticker paper.

Your asset tags

Use {id} where the number goes. Leave empty and the code contains just the tag number.

Preview

Print one sheet on plain paper first and hold it to your label sheet. Scan three tags before you peel and stick a whole series.

Tips

Asset tags that stay useful

  • Keep a simple register — the prefix and range are enough — and note where each tag went.
  • Stick tags on a clean, flat spot that is not scraped often, and away from heat.
  • Use polyester or vinyl labels for equipment; paper labels fade and peel.
  • Add a link per tag only if you have a page for it; the plain number is just as useful.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How do I make numbered asset tags?

Set a prefix (for example ASSET-), the number to start at, how many labels you need and how many digits to pad to. The preview shows the whole sheet; extra pages are added automatically.

What should the QR code contain?

Either just the tag number, which any scanner shows as text, or a link to your inventory page with the number in it. With a link, use {id} where the number should go.

Which labels should I print on?

Polyester or vinyl labels last longest on equipment. The 38.1 × 21.2 mm and 63.5 × 38.1 mm layouts match common A4 packs, and 66.7 × 25.4 mm matches a common Letter pack. Print a test on plain paper first.

Can I keep a list of the tags?

The numbers are sequential, so your list is simply the prefix and range. For a spreadsheet of links, use the bulk generator.
