Tips for events

Events have crowds, poor signal and tired people. Design for that.

  • Print large at the entrance — people scan from a queue, not from arm's length.
  • Plan for weak mobile signal — offer WiFi, and keep the destination page light.
  • Use a different code per purpose — so you can tell what's working.
  • Test at the venue — lighting and signal can change how well a code scans.

FAQ

QR codes for events: your questions

Is a QR code the same as a ticket?

No. A generic QR code just opens a link. Ticket check-in codes are unique per attendee and come from your ticketing system. Use QR codes to send people to those tickets.

Can I make a code for every attendee?

Yes, with the bulk generator you can create a code per row of a CSV, for example one personal link per attendee.

How early should I print?

Make the codes first, test with several phones, then print. Changing a destination after printing means reprinting.

Do I need to pay for these QR codes?

No. BestQR is free: no sign-up, no watermark and no expiry. The codes are static, so they keep working as long as the page they point to does.
