Printing barcode labels
- Use a laser or thermal printer if you can: inkjet bars can bleed on glossy stock.
- Choose a label at least 25 mm tall for scanning at a counter; very small labels need very small bars.
- Check EAN and UPC numbers: a wrong check digit means a scanner will not accept the code.
- Keep each label free of folds or glossy laminate that reflects the scanner's light.

Questions, answered
How do I print barcode labels?
Choose a barcode type, enter one value per line, pick the label sheet that matches your pack and print at 100% scale. EAN-13, UPC-A and EAN-8 get their check digit added if you leave it out.
Which barcode type should I use?
Use EAN-13 or UPC-A for products sold in shops (the number must be registered with GS1), Code 128 for SKUs, asset tags and shipping, and Code 39 for simple uppercase IDs.
Will the labels scan?
Barcodes need a clear white margin and enough height. The layouts keep both, but always test a printed sample with your scanner. Scanners read dark bars on white best, so the code sits on a white panel.
Can I add text to each label?
Yes. Write “value | caption” on a line and the caption is printed above the bars. The value is printed in digits under the bars.
